Processing Environment in OPC Viewer |
When DataPorter license is installed the following adds-on are available in OPC Viewer.
This topic contains the following sections:
OPC Viewer represents the current session configuration as a tree. Any session is a container where each node contains configuration of an object such as server, subscription, tag, transaction, etc. Any session includes the following environment: OPC, Processing and Database Database (the existence of the particular environment depends on the installed license type). The most important nodes for the mentioned environments are described below. As needed, you can then add other objects to the session.
Any session can be freely saved and recalled from an XML file. OPC Viewer stores the definition of the session in the file: .oses. To allow flexible management of the session, configuration of selected node types can be exported and imported from the session. It allows us to store any node independently or transfer configuration of the particular objects, e.g. OPC servers, between sessions.
To make navigation easy, the session is displayed in the left pane of the graphical user interface as a hierarchy of nodes. Each node in the tree might contain other nodes, called child nodes. You can display parent nodes, or nodes that contain child nodes, as expanded or collapsed.
The session tree typically contains the following nodes:
Processing Environment – This is the root of a set of operations to be processed in real-time by the DataPorter™ software.
Transaction node - Transaction is a set of operations that is processed in real-time as one whole.
Operations – Each operation is an atomic part of a transaction. It performs various tasks (e.g. read/write an item, add/sub/multiply/divide, compare, save to data base, etc… ) depending on the operation type.
To perform any task, click right mouse button on the selected node to open context menu with available options. Options depend on the node. Examples of the available options are:
Connecting and disconnecting the server.
Adding and removing of subscription, item, and transaction.
Reading and writing to server.
etc.
Depending on the selected tab, this panel presents detailed information relevant to the selected node:

This tab was described in previous topic (OPC Viewer Getting Started).
When “Processing Environment” tab is selected, this panel allows editing the transaction selected on the tree explorer. Read topic: “Transaction Editor getting started” to learn more details.
